The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation’s Annual Real Estate Challenge welcomes universities from across the country to compete with one another to redevelop a high-profile site in the Midwest, primarily in the Chicago Metropolitan Area.  The winning undergraduate and graduate teams each win a $7,500 scholarship.

The first Real Estate Challenge began in 2011, with just 6 teams, and has grown to 20+ teams in 2024.  The sites have varied and grown in complexity as well, spanning neighborhoods from Logan Square to Woodlawn, touching areas of historic significance like Goose Island and the Central Manufacturing District, and even expanding outside Chicagoland to downtown St. Louis this year.

We are proud to have welcomed 40+ universities to compete over the years, including new teams like Rutgers University, Tulane University, Washington University and more.

The 2025 Site will be announced soon!
